When police officers pull over a car, they often look for other incriminating factors in addition to issuing a speeding ticket. They are looking, among other things, at the facial expressions of the driver and whether there is liquid on the floor. People who do not make eye contact might be trying to conceal facial expressions; liquid on the floor suggests an open container of alcohol and possible drunk driving. The more cars are ticketed, the more police are looking for DWI.

A recent study by insurance.com took a look at the most-ticketed cars between January 2014 and February 2016. The study analyzed data from claims filed by over 323,000 drivers and citations given to 331 models of cars to create a list of the most and least ticketed vehicles.

The twenty most-ticketed cars:
1. Lexus ES 300
2. Nissan 350Z
3. Dodge Charger SE/SXT
4. Volkswagen Jetta GL
5. Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS/LT
6. Mazsa 3S
7. Volkswagen GTI
8. Dodge Stratus SXT
9. Acura 3.0s
10. Toyota Tacoma
11. Mazda Tribute
12. Subaro Impreza WRX
13. Lexus LS 400 Series
14. Subaru Impreza 2.5l
15. Mercedes-Benz C300 4 Matic
16. Chevrolet Malibu 2LT
17. Lincoln LS
18. Ford Fusion S
19. Mazda 3l
20. Chevrolet Tahoe K1500

Interestingly, the list contains representation of both luxury and economy cars. Insurance.com’s consumer analyst Penny Gusner asserted that ultimately “[i[t’s the driver that gets the tickets, not the car. But it is interesting to see what vehicle makes and models attract drivers who are prone to traffic violations.”

Traffic Tickets in Texas

A 2010 National Motorist Association report ranked Texas fourth on the list of states issuing speeding tickets. Within Texas, the Dallas-Fort Worth area is the most active area for speed traps, according to thetruthaboutcars.com website. By combining the data from the insurance.com study, the National Motorist Association report, and thetruthaboutcars.com website, Dallas-area drivers of the Lexus ES 300, Nissan 35OZ, and Dodge Charger SE/SXT have significantly higher statistical chances than the average driver in other parts of the country of being pulled over and ticketed for a traffic offense.

Traffic Tickets in the Dallas Area

Moreover, sppedtrap.org keeps an updated list of speed traps in the Dallas area. Consequently and based on the information above, drivers of Lexus ES 300, Nissan 35OZ, and Dodge Charger SE/SXT operating in those speed trap areas have an even higher statistical chance of being ticketed.

DWI

If you drive a Lexus ES 300, Nissan 35OZ, and Dodge Charger SE/SXT or any type of car and have been ticketed, be it in one of the Dallas-area speed trap zones or otherwise, then the police
will look for certain signs when they pull you over. The police will try to determine if they should cite you for DWI. You have a higher-than-average chance of being pulled over in the Dallas area.
